Templates
A report template contains the base configuration to generate a report. This is where you define which type of report you want, and the configuration associated to the type. Once a template has been created, it can be ran against a target (a cluster, a cloud provider) over a selected date range.
By default, each organization comes with a set of default templates, configured to contain all sections of the report type.
A template can be used by multiple schedules.
You need to either have the owner, admin or user role in the organization to be able to manage report templates.
Create a template
To create a report template, you first need to be logged in Kubewise, select the reports section from the left menu, then select the templates tab.
Click on the create template button, a dialog window will appear and prompt for a name:
Click on next, select the type of report you want and configure its content:
Once you’re done, just click on create and you will be all set!
Run a template
Note that this is not the recommended way of generating a report on demand since you’ll be asked to select the target and the date range each time.
The best way of generating a report on demand is to run a schedule.
To run a template, just click on the play icon on the right of the template that you want to run:
According to the type of report that you want to run you’ll be asked to select the target (in this exemple we are running a cluster security report, so we are asked to select the cluster):
In the next step, you will be asked to enter the report name, and the timezone you want to have dates in the report:
Then you are going to be asked to select the data date you want to analyze:
Once you hit run, the request will be sent to Kubewise which will start generating your report. You will see the report appearing under the reports tab after a few minutes.
